What Does the PVA Do?
The PVA uses this expertise to be the leading advocate for:
- Quality health care for its members,
- Research and education addressing spinal cord injury and dysfunction,
- Benefits available as a result of its members' military service,
- Civil rights and opportunities which maximize the independence of its members
Keystone PVA will do its best to uphold the commitment to improving the quality of life and protecting the rights of SCI or neurologically impaired patients. The major areas of effort lie with providing sports and recreational activities, changing and creating legislation to ensure employment opportunities and civil rights, and to become leaders in the fight against barriers in the every day world.
A remarkable feature of Keystone PVA is that its members serve other members. The Board of Directors is completely made up of Keystone PVA members; members contact public officials to inform them of the needs of paralyzed vets; and members visit other members, and other veterans, in the VA and other medical facilities when they are hospitalized.
