Kennywood Park Picnic – 19 Jul 2023

Keystone PVA members,

This Wednesday, the 19th of July, is the date of the annual Kennywood Park Picnic for Keystone Paralyzed Veterans.

The park opens at 11am and closes at 9pm. The picnic will be in Pavilion 8 from 4 to 5pm. Door prizes will be given away at the picnic.

Are you an active chapter member who has a T-shirt or a polo shirt with the PVA/chapter logo on it? Please wear it!
If you don’t have a PVA/chapter T-shirt or polo shirt, place your order during the picnic. Polos are $19.50 each, T-shirts are $7 each. Both are more for sizes larger than extra large. Ladies’ style polos are available.
All parking is in the main parking lot. There is a section for disabled persons’ adapted vehicles, but it fills up early.

Attached is your reservation flyer for the Keystone PVA annual Kennywood Park Picnic.  This year’s event will be on Wednesday, 19 July 2023.

Kennywood has changed its policy on the provision of the picnic food.  We are required to order the same amount of food as the number of discounted group admission passes that we purchase.  So the cost per person now reflects the cost of the admission pass AND the picnic cost.

Of course, if you are a life (full voting) member, an associate member, or a registered volunteer for the chapter, your admission and picnic cost and that of your own guest is at no charge.

However, as in the past, we require payment in advance that will be returned to you during the picnic, which will be in Pavilion #8 between 4 and 5 p.m.

Additional guests will cost $59 each for admission and picnic.  Please use one check for the first two attendees and a separate check for the additional guests; the chapter will keep the second check.

We are setting a deadline of 01 July for registration so that we have enough time to order the tickets from Kennywood AND mail them out to you.

We are concerned about the length of time it takes the postal service to deliver first-class mail, so if anyone wishes us to keep the tickets in the chapter office for you to pick up, please let us know.

As always, as a statewide organization, we know that not everyone will find it convenient to travel to West Mifflin, Pa. for the Kennywood event.  Please note that members who do not use other benefits, such as the fitness club reimbursement, the hunting and fishing license reimbursement, the bowling reimbursement, or sponsorship for organized recreation events like the Bass Tournament, National Veterans Wheelchair Games, or the Buckeye Games, can tap the “Member Recreation Reimbursement Fund” detailed in every issue of The Parascope.

If you cannot download and print the attached Kennywood Picnic flyer, call the office, 412-781-2474 or 800-775-9323, and we will promptly mail you a copy.

The flyer will also be included in the May-June issue of The Parascope.

Please mail back this form and your check(s) so we receive them by the end of June.  Passes will be mailed out by first class mail in early July.

Please call the office if you have questions.
