Forbes Trail Chapter TU Event – 16 Sep 2023

Ladies and Gentlemen,

veteran fishing

I am writing to invite you to this year’s fishing event on Saturday, September 16 at the Kingston Veterans Sportsmen Club.  This event is being offered free to any military veteran or first responder.  No fishing license is required.  The lake is stocked with trout, panfish and catfish.  The lake, pavilion and porta john are all ADA accessible.  We provide lunch, fishing equipment, tackle/bait and mentors if needed.  There will be raffle prizes.  You are welcome to bring a friend and it is not necessary they be a veteran or first responder.

This event is being sponsored by Forbes Trail Chapter of Trout Unlimited and Kingston Veterans Sportsmen Club.  I’m contacting you from a list of veterans who expressed an interest last year.  You may actually be a contact person for a veteran who had registered.  This is our fifth, annual event.  We are trying hard to reach veterans in the area and encourage them to participate.  Everyone who has participated in the past said they had a terrific time.  We do our best to make sure everyone catches fish.  You’re welcome to bring your own fishing equipment.  Or, we can provide it.  We’ll have volunteers on hand to assist.  If you want to learn how to cast using a fly rod, we can help with that.  Whatever equipment or assistance you need, we’ll provide.  Our goal is to make this a rewarding experience for you!

You may have seen the attached flyer in various clinics or stores promoting the event.  It, and the attached letter from me, provide all of the details.  What’s most critical is everyone must be preregistered.  We need an accurate head count so we know how much food to prepare and how many volunteers we’ll need.  Equally important, if you register and find out you are unable to attend, please let us know ASAP.  We don’t want to waste food or have too many volunteers with nothing to do.  We understand if you have to cancel.  Just please keep us informed.

We hope you’ll be able to join us.  It’s always a fun time and it’s our way of saluting our military veterans and first responders, and thanking you for your service.  If some of you have received more than one email, I apologize.  I am working to consolidate all my veteran contacts into one comprehensive file.

Sincerely,

Larry D. Myers, President
